This new backcountry lodge offers exciting ski touring and ski mountaineering possibilities. Backcountry huts are the ultimate in a ski touring holiday. They offer the best powder snow that British Columbia has, based from a remote mountain hut.
Icefall Lodge offers the longest ski touring runs and highest peaks that you can ski tour from any hut in BC. In addition it can access some of the largest glaciers in BC. A 10 minute ski tour gets you into the alpine and in 45 minutes from the lodge you can be skiing on the glacier. Not only does this area offer great alpine ski touring, but there are long tree runs for those snowy days.
The 15 minute helicopter ride takes your group and supplies into the lodge for the week. The large area, over 200 square km, ensures that you will have plenty of terrain to choose from. The remote location, which borders on Banff National Park, ensures that there will be no crowds. Icefall Lodge is located on the western side of the great divide and receives massive amounts of snowfall and a long ski season. Evidence of this is seen in the large glaciers surrounding the area.
After a day of power skiing there is the warm lodge and gourmet food waiting for you. The lodge is comfortable but does not have many modern conveniences such as running water and electricity. There is an indoor pee toilet and a shower. The lodge has a wood stove to relax by and to dry out gear. There is also a sauna to take the chill off of the day. The remote aspect of a hut based trip ensures a unique atmosphere in the lodge. You will be sharing the lodge, far from civilization, with only a small group of friends.
Gourmet cooking included in the trip. Alcohol is not included
