LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand -- The best conditions of the season are waiting for school holiday skiers and snowboarders at Lake Wanaka’s four mountain resorts this weekend. Recent snowfalls of up to 75cm over the last four days combined with cold temperatures have resulted in perfect winter conditions and excellent snow cover.

Rosco Davies, operations manager at Treble Cone said condition
s were the best they’d been all season. “We’ve had 75cm on the upper mountain over the last few days and it’s cold, dry snow. It’s the best snow in terms of quality and quantity all season by a long way and there’s still more to come in the next few days. We’ve been enjoying some of the best powder days this year and each day just keeps getting better – quality wise this snow is as good as it gets!”

Nadia Ellis, marketing manager at Cardrona agreed saying conditions were “absolutely fantastic with over 40cm of new snow and conditions that are more like mid-winter than spring – just amazing skiing all over the mountain”

Conditions on the Pisa Range are also excellent with both Snow Park NZ and Snow Farm reporting good winter snow conditions and great coverage all over the mountain.

“Conditions don’t get better than this,” said Lake Wanaka Tourism general manager, James Helmore. “Longer, sunny days, light, dry snow and no lift queues and the best turns of the season guaranteed! This is an opportunity not to be missed and with many of the mountains having spring deals, excellent value too - the perfect time for a family skiing holiday!”
