Watch the Olympic Torch Video!
THURSDAY, 28 JANUARY 2010
Watch a moment in history as the Olympic Torch comes to Banff-Lake Louise, and we celebrate in a very unique
way!
In an exciting salute to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, the Flame visits our ski resorts, and locals and visitorsalike join in the festivities of this great event. And we've got it all on video! Check it out here. This is part of the longest Olympic Torch Relay held in
the borders of the Host Country in history. In the run up to the Games, the Olympic Flame is visiting over 1,000
communities and places of interest as 12,000 torchbearers carry it on its 45,000 kilometre journey.
The Torch’s presence in Banff National Park is poiniant as Olympic and World Cup athletes live, breathe and train
in this extraordinary mountain landscape. Generations of past Olympic competitors and today’s potential medal-
winners in downhill ski racing, cross-country skiing, and snowboarding point to the area’s amazing ski resorts,
world-class trails, dry powder and spirited sense of community as keys to their success.
As the training ground of many Olympic hopefuls, from Banff-Lake Louise we'd like to wish all the
athletes well for next month's Games. The spirit and energy of the Games will continue to be felt in
Banff National Park throughout the season.
