Shawnee Inn Unveils Ski
TUESDAY, 17 NOVEMBER 2009
The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort has introduced value-laden ski and snow tubing packages, ideal for couples or families seeking fun getaways this winter season.
Beginning the day after Thanksgiving, The Shawnee Inn is offering its popular “Ski-and-Stay” package, which starts as low as $115 per person, per night (midweek) and includes overnight lodging accommodations, a hot breakfast each morning, all-day and night lift tickets at the nearby Shawnee Mountain Ski Area, taxes and resort fee. The package is available through March 28, 2010.
Similarly, the resort also is offering a “Snow Tube-and-Stay” package, which will allow guests to take the “Pocono Plunge” at Shawnee Mountain’s tubing park with its seven chutes (including adult and child tandem tubes) and two carpet lifts. In addition to lodging and hot breakfast, the package includes a four-hour snow tubing ticket with daily sessions beginning at 9 a.m. This package is in effect from December 11 through March 27, 2010.
All rates are based on double occupancy. Children (ages 5-11) and youths (12-17) can be added to the ski package for as low as $41 to $47 per day (midweek) and $47 to $53 (weekends and holidays). For the snow tube package, children and youths can be added from $24 to $38 per day. Availability, opening and closing dates are all weather permitting.
Perched on the edge of the Delaware River, and peacefully secluded, The Shawnee Inn has been a treasured destination for nearly a century. With newly renovated accommodations and amenities, families spending the holidays here will leave with lasting memories for years to come.
Many special holiday events are scheduled as part of the resort’s annual “Shawnee Traditions,” such as the Holiday Lighting Ceremony (only Sunday, November 29); gingerbread house and ornament making; “Breakfast with Santa”; and “Holiday Tea.” Plus, the Shawnee Playhouse will show the classic holiday film, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” throughout the season.
The Shawnee Inn is only minutes away from Shawnee Mountain Ski Area, which features 23 trails, two terrain parks and a snow tubing park. One quarter of the trails are geared for beginners, 50 percent for intermediate levels and the other quarter for expert skiers. The ski resort will open for the 2009-10 season on Friday, November 27 (weather permitting), with operating hours from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. midweek (Monday-Friday) and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekends (Saturday-Sunday). Night skiing is available from 4 to 10 p.m. beginning in mid-December.
To book either the ski or snow tubing package, call The Shawnee Inn at (570) 424-0990 or visit www.ShawneeInn.com and click on “Specials.”
