55th Annual "SNIAGRAB" Sale

In what has come to signify the unofficial start of the ski season, Sports Authority's celebrated ski and snowboard sale, SNIAGRAB (Bargains spelled backwards), kicks off Saturday, Sept. 5, at 8 a.m. at the downtown Denver Sportscastle, and at other Colorado Sports Authority locations in Bowles, Parker, Boulder, Ft. Collins, Colorado Springs, Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction. This year will mark the 55th edition of the famed event.

The street party, which has become a Labor Day institution in Denver, attracts nearly 30,000 shoppers to its multiple locations with prices marked down by up to 70 percent. This year, Sports Authority's SNIAGRAB will offer merchandise from such leading brands as Burton, Volkl, K2, The North Face, Columbia and Sims.

SNIAGRAB began in 1954 when local organizers spelled the word "Bargains" backwards to promote their ski clearance sale. Today, it features millions of dollars' of merchandise on sale for up to 70 percent off original prices.

Sports Authority sets up shop in a parking garage on 10th and Broadway, adjacent to its Sportscastle store. The event will run until Sunday, Nov. 15.

Hailed as the world's largest ski and snowboard sale, SNIAGRAB has become a festival unto itself, as the entire block in Denver is filled with promotional tents, food vendors, onlookers, and the hundreds of people who begin camping outside the Sporstcastle days in advance.

The wait is worth it to those first in line, as they not only pick up top merchandise at bargain prices, but are rewarded for their dedication through Sports Authority "Bonus Bucks." Sports Authority hands out $100 in Bonus Bucks to the first 100 people in line; $50 each to the next 100; and $25 in Bonus Bucks to the following 100 people. (The Bonus Bucks must be used toward a SNIAGRAB purchase.) In addition, two of these eager shoppers will receive $500 each in Bonus Bucks from Sports Authority.

In total, Sports Authority will give away more than $100,000 in prizes, promotional items and incentives to shoppers. This includes enter-to-win contests featuring suites to the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos games, Echo Mountain Resort packages and a grand prize of a new 2009 Subaru Outback from GO Suburu - Arapahoe and GO Suburu - West. Also flying high will be the "Flying Ace All-Stars" performing trampoline stunts on 10th Street representing the US Ski and Snowboard Team.

In addition to the downtown Denver location, SNIAGRAB will also be held at the following:
