Deer Valley Resort to Invest $8M in Improvements
THURSDAY, 29 MAY 2008
DEER VALLEY RESORT, PARK CITY, UTAH - While Deer Valley Resort operates a full compliment of summer activities this season (lift-served hiking, mountain biking and scenic rides, lunch at Royal Street Café, Summer Adventure Camp, and plenty of outdoor summer concerts), resort staffers will also be working on investing $8 million in improvements on the mountain.
"Even though we’ve just begun to enjoy our summer season here at Deer Valley, we’re already thinking ahead to our next ski season, and striving to improve our guests’ winter vacation experience," says Bob Wheaton, resort president and general manager. "Last summer, we installed the new high-speed detachable quad chairlift, Lady Morgan Express, and created eight new ski runs in the Empire Canyon area. Our improvements this summer are more subtle, but just as important to providing a top notch guest experience. Since dining is truly one of the most enjoyed aspects of our guests’ time at Deer Valley, our two biggest projects this summer will be replacing the existing Cushing’s Cabin with a larger and updated model and also remodeling Empire Canyon Lodge."
Planned improvements at Deer Valley Resort for the 2008/2009 ski season include:
- Replacement of the existing Cushing’s Cabin at the top of Flagstaff Mountain, adjacent to the Northside Express, Quincy Express, Silver Strike Express, and Ruby Express chairlifts. The new cabin will seat 40 to 45 guests, feature updated restrooms, and house Flagstaff Mountain Ski Patrol. The new cabin will offer a similar menu as in years past.
- Remodel of the Empire Canyon Lodge to allow more seating upstairs and improve the flow through the beverage and service areas.
- Replacement of the main snowmaking line from the Snow Park (base) area to the top of the Carpenter Express and Silver Lake Express chairlifts.
- Replacement of five snowcats, including one winch cat and one Bison X cat, which will help with building the World Cup Skier Cross course as well as the TNT (Tricks ’N Turns) terrain park.
- Replacement of 44 snowmobiles at the Summit Meadows Adventures snowmobile operation.
Deer Valley Resort has invested nearly $123 million in improvements since 1990. For more information on 2008 summer improvements at Deer Valley Resort, please contact Resort Communications Manager Erin Grady at 800-424-DEER (3337), 435-645-6522, or view the resort website at deervalley.com.
