Volvo X OVER RIDE 08 - Final Call
WEDNESDAY, 19 MARCH 2008
Kitzsteinhorn - Just a few more days until the Easter Bunny arrives with the Volvo X OVER Ride for the Freeskier and Snowboarder scene. The classic end to the winter season draws international boarders and skiers to celebrate skill, style, and parties on the Kitzsteinhorn. Competitors from nine countries will be taking on the challenge in the Freeride Cross and the Slopestyle Contest. The best riders from both events will be celebrated in Kaprun Castle in the evening.
From Friday, March 21 to Monday, March 24, Ski and Snowboard Slopestylers and Freeriders will meet on the Kitzsteinhorn to rock the glaciers and the parties in the valley. On Saturday, the riders in the Freeride Cross will give us their best performance and on Sunday, it continues with Slopestyle in the Snowpark. Anyone feeling particularly energetic (or ambitious) should start both contests as this is the only way to win the title “Ruler of the Hill” and a week at the Nalu Surf Camp in Portugal. Winners of individual categories can look forward to numerous prizes and sensational prize money worth a total of 9,000€.
Registration is limited to 80 starters for the Freeride Cross and only 60 for the Slopestyle!
German skier Roy Kittler, who reached second place at “Engadin Snow” and came ninth in Slopestyle at the US Open, is now definitely going to be in on the action. Austria’s own Number 1 Patrick Hollaus and the Australian Sam Foster will give him a run for his money.
Mario Fuchs (AUT) has two World Cup victories to his name this season and came third in the Boardercross Combined World Cup. He’ll be starting in the Langwied Open Field with riders like Ralph Castelberg (SUI) who won nine victories in Freeride Contests in 2007 alone.
Adam Falk (SWE, second in the Nordic SlopeStyle Contest) and newly dubbed Stefan “Check the Ripper” Wimmer (AUT) will be showing us their best in the DC Park on Sunday.
Whoever wants to enjoy the feeling of being “Ruler of the Hill” will have to impress in both contests and outdo two-time champion and title defender Bernd Wallner. The starting lineup is long and motivated. It’s going to be tough. With Stefan Wimmer and Sam Foster beside him, Bernd Wallner will be facing some stiff competition.
Who will get to rake in the prize money, the title of “Ruler of the Hill” for the best overall performance and show us some Spin&Style at the parties in Kaprun Castle can only be seen this weekend at the Easter classic. Register at www.x-over.at.
Almdudler Ride with Style
Not only performances on skis and boards will be judged on Sunday, but Almdudler Ride with Style will also award a prize for the best outfit on the theme of “Freestyle in the 50s” For a 30-minute session, judges will evaluate both tricks and outfits equally. A total of 2,000€ worth of prize money should make it worth-rummaging through granddad’s cupboard and donning some retro gear.
Legendary After Party
In the evening, the Volvo X OVER RIDE moves down into the valley to party. On Saturday, SOUPSHOP and JERX will be rocking the ancient walls of Kaprun Castle.
On Sunday evening, the winners of each contest will be celebrated with cool drinks and the best sound. ACTIONTEAM and GUADALAJARA will put the finishing touch on the weekend party.
The combination of DJs Vale, Chris Rock, Paddauz, and Shantisan and a Heineken will round off the perfect basis for a party.
