From February 26th to March 4th 2007, the SNICKERS NORDPARK SESSIONS 2007 will reunite snowboarders and skiers, freestylers and freeriders at the legendary skiing resort “Nordpark“ high above the rooftops of Innsb ruck. Two freestyle sessions at the park and the half-pipe and the traditional “Check the Ripper“ contest will be part of this special happening luring riders and media alike to Europe’s snowboard and freeski capital.

Slopestyle : Skyline Expression Session, February 26-28, 2007
Fly high over Innsbruck! From February 26th to 28th 2007, the Skyline Expression Session will give the Snickers Nordpark Sessions the go-ahead. A huge kicker and a quarter-pipe will be built to guarantee awesome riding and the possibility to produce outstanding footage! The most impressive rider will be elected and photographers and film-makers will be invited to cover the whole session. Their output will be shown at the After Contest Party at JIMMYZ, Innsbruck’s snowboarding bar!

Superpipe: Hit da Pipe & Night Pipe Session, March 1st/2nd 2007
Two super-pipe sessions, one during the day and one at night - that’s what Hit da Pipe and the Night Pipe Session are all about. A perfectly groomed pipe, a special tent with some nice food and hookahs for “maximum relaxation” are waiting for you! Again, photographers and film-makers will be invited to cover the whole session, the most impressive rider will be elected and the output will be shown at the After Contest Party!

One for all: Nordpark Check the Ripper, March 03rd/04th 2007
The main goal of the Nordpark Check the Ripper contest is to select the perfect allround rider - simply the RIPPER! That’s why the course contains all kinds of rideable terrain. The competition on March 3rd and 4th 2007 will be a single timed run through three different sections. First, the course will lead through the park where riders can earn a massive time bonus performing freestyle tricks on two different elements (corner & kicker) - depending on the difficulty and style of the trick! The second section will flow through well shaped banks. Riders will need a lot of feeling and ride smooth to maintain the speed. Physical strength and total board control will be the main criteria for the last section of the course: a steep off-piste slope with very few gates! Due to the length of the course absolute physical fitness will be required of all the riders to prevent injury.

Last year, the new and globally unique contest format set the standard how to find the true all-round snowboarder or freeskier. At no other event, the field of participants is made up of both world-class freeriders and freestylers who equally have the chance to express their own particular strengths and style at the various sections of the course. Each competitor also has the chance to take part in the combined discipline, which not only adds to the appeal of the event but also brings snowboarders and freeskiers closer together and generally further relaxes the atmosphere between the riders. For a complete list of results please check out www.checktheripper.at.

Located directly over Innsbruck, the Seegrube offers everything a snowboarder or freeskier could dream of: steep chutes, deep bowls, a natural freestyle playground and a funpark with a super-pipe! Check the Ripper tries to represent all these different kinds of rideable terrain in one contest.

A highly demanding single timed run will determine the perfect all-rounders in snowboarding and freeskiing. The combination of both style and speed is unique. Only those who gain time through freestyle tricks and possess extraordinary freeriding abilities stand a chance of winning. The field of participants is made up of well-known freeriders, freestylers and local rippers.

This contest format has not only proven itself successful but is continually being revised and improved by rider feedback and fresh ideas. One of the new moves will be an additional freestyle element and a slight change to the layout of the course. In addition, due to great demand, there will be more starting places allocated for freeskiers.

Side events & After Contest Party
Innsbruck’s Jimmyz bar will be the party area for the whole week starting on Wednesday, February 28th 2007, with the SNICKERS WARMUP PARTY. After the Check The Ripper contest, the legendary wild boar BBQ will be set alight at Hungerburg to the rhythm of relaxing chillout beats. The party will then move on to the JIMMYZ in Innsbruck where the prize-giving will be held alongside live gigs.

K2 Sports, RIDE Snowboards, Marker and Planet Earth present the Progression Session 2007: this is not a contest but the great opportunity to make progress and improve your skills with the aid of pro riders. K2 freeskier Daniel Schießl (GER), K2 Snowboarding and Planet Earth team rider Mone Monsberger (AUT) and RIDE team rider Reto Kestenholz (SUI) will be the coaches of the Progression Session series. They will give the participants tips how to improve their personal performance and give away tricks that only the pros know about.

In addition, a professional photographer will be at place to take pictures of the riders performing their airs and rail moves. After the event, the riders will have the possibility to download the pictures for free from the website www.snowparkguide.com.

Just like at each leg of the Progression Session, at the Kitzsteinhorn the riders also will have the option to test the newest products of the K2 ski, K2 snowboarding and RIDE snowboarding collections. At the K2 and RIDE test tents the riders will also be able to register for the participation in the Progression session from 10 am.

The conditions for the Progression Session at the Kitzsteinhorn are excellent: With the Glacier Park on the glacier at 2,900m as well as the Central Park and the Easy Park near Sonnenkarbahn at 2,600m, all three funparks are in full operation. 28 varied obstacles are waiting for the riders: from small kickers at the Easy Park over an 8-metre style roller and a 9-metre Curved Box at the Medium Line to a 16-meter tabletop kicker and a stepdown kicker with a 10-metre table at the hard line, the parks are ready to fulfil all needs of the riders.

For more information please see www.kitzsteinhorn.at and www.snowparkguide.com.

Two weeks of freestyle fun and spring sun: that's what SPRING IN THE PARK is all about. For the second time, this camp will take place on Zugspitze at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, from March 31st to April 15th 2007. For two weeks, freeskiers and snowboarders will get their money's worth at the Terrain Park Zugspitze. With snowboard and ski coaches, equipment tests, special girl's offerings and an old school contest on April 7th 2007, the camp supported by K2 and Ride will be the spring highlight on Zugspitze. In addition, special offers for accommodation and lift tickets will tempt the riders to come to Germany's highest mountain.

At the coaching, ski and snowboard pros of the K2 and Ride teams will advise riders how to perfectly perform their tricks on rails and kickers. At the girl's week, Michelle Parker (USA) will coach the slopestyle ski girls while Martina Tscharner (SUI) will take care of the female snowboarders. Additionally, a female fitness trainer will do some stretching with the riders to warm themselves up - something that most riders forget to do before they ride the park. Andreas „Mone“ Monsberger (AUT) and Reto Kestenholz (SUI) will coach the male snowboarders, Daniel Schießl (GER) will look after the male freeskiers.

Plus, a professional photographer will take pictures of the participants. Later, they can download the high resolution pix of their airs and railslides free from the websites www.zugspitze.de and www.snowparkguide.com.

Over both weeks, the participants can lend out and test ski and snowboard equipment for free at the K2 and Ride booths. Just like last year, an old school contest will take place at the second weekend (April 7th2007).

This year, the organizers will take special care of the beginners: a new easy line will be installed just below the chill area. In general, the set-up will be adapted to the terrain even better than last year.

For news and information please check www.snowparkguide.com and www.zugspitze.de.
