Home of the country’s longest Superpipe, Steamboat Springs, Colorado has been a well-known destination for skiers and snowboarders alike. The permitted ski area is about 1, 200 hectares, with 80% of its trails classified as intermediate and advanced tracks. Steamboat is a mountain range composing of six peaks - Christie Peak, Mt. Werner, Pioneer Ridge, Sunshine Peak, Storm Peak, and Thunderhead Peak, each with its distinctive terrain and trails for different levels of ability. Pioneer Ridge, Sunshine Peak, and Storm Peak are the infamous Champagne Powder-covered crests in Steamboat.
Steamboat Springs Skiing starts around the third week of November up until the first week of April. Lifts are open as early as 8:30am until 3:30pm. Due to the numerous visitors of this famed ski destination, winter lodging packages and Skiing passes are more expensive especially during the holidays, and drop by 20 percent at the beginning and the end of the season.
Numerous activities await visitors with its ski school classes, film and music festivals, carnivals, and the annual Mavericks Superpipe Challenge. Skiing and Snowboarding enthusiasts need not worry as numerous resorts and lodges offer the finest accommodations and great packages offering free mountain tours.
