When it comes to Skiing, Banff is one of the best attractions in
Canada. It is the highest town in Canada, with an elevation of 1,383 meters or 4,537 feet. Banff is popular for its scenic surrounding and is a convenient place for various outdoor activities. Although the peak season is during the summer months, Banff,
Lake Louise Ski Resort, and
Sunshine Village have become major winter sport destinations.
The Banff ski area is just a short ride from the Banff town site. It has 190 acres of terrain for beginners and skilled skiers. It includes the most demanding runs on Upper Lone Pine and Gun Run. Lake Louise, on the other hand, is the largest ski area in Canada - with 4,200 skiable acres. One hundred thirteen trails and a vertical drop of 991 meters or 3,250 feet are provided by four mountains surrounding the area. The Goats Eye Mountain area is heaven for advanced skiers.
Aside from
Downhill Skiing and
Snowboarding, winter sports such as
Cross-country Skiing, ice hiking, snowshoeing, and sleigh riding are also major fun activities to be considered. Ice skating and dog sledding are also not to be missed out on the Banff area. Surrounded by steep rock walls, Banff is also a perfect place for
Ice Climbing.
