Planning a Ski Vacation
Written by: adeguia
Planning a ski vacation, whether alone or with the whole family, starts the fun that you will get from the actual trip. Here are simple tips that you may want to consider when planning a ski vacation:
- Select a resort that offers the type of Skiing you do. Look for cheap ski vacation packages and check out the airfare, hotel accommodation, and lift tickets. Most resorts also have websites that you can visit so you will have an idea on what to expect when you get there.
- If your chosen Ski Resort is far from your place, you can stay in a cabin or do the “ski-in –ski-out” way. Staying in a resort can be very expensive. Staying in a cabin is advisable if you are going with three to four people. In case of a family ski vacation, some resorts are generous enough to offer slope side condominiums that usually have two or more bedrooms, dining room, and kitchen. Some also have added facilities such as an exercise room and a pool. It is also better to check if shuttle or any other means of transportation is available from the place where you stay to the slopes.
- Another decision that you will have to make, especially for beginners, is whether to buy or rent Skis. Check if the Ski Resort offers ski rental. This would be more convenient for you since you do not need to transport your equipment to and from the resort.
- After making all the major decisions, you can start packing your things especially your Ski Clothing. Dress in layers - a thermal layer, insulating layer, and outer shell will keep you warm and dry. Ski Socks, Ski Helmet, pairs of Ski Gloves or mittens, and Ski Goggles are also important. You would also want to bring hand warmers and sunscreen. If you plan to do other activities aside from Skiing, bring extra clothes and another pair of shoes or boots. When you reach the place, always remember to keep an eye on your valuables.
When everything is all set, forget all the things that keep you busy and enjoy this wonderful trip.
