Armada Skiing Gear 2007 - 2008 Overview
An idea hatched over a few beers between the world’s greatest skiers, Armada is no longer a suggestion of what a ski company should be. Today, Armada is distributed globally in 25 nations and embodies the cutting edge of the sport: athlete driven, design obsessed, and technologically superior.
Our independence allows for a single-minded focus on the product, assuring that the skis always meet the needs of an elite team of riders who know what works. Skiers the world over who demand the best demand Armada.
Armada is a family of athletes, artists, designers, and engineers that didn’t just push the envelope—we blew it wide open. And the industry is scrambling to catch up.
We are Armada. We are what skiing will become.
AR6
All the years of “progressing the sport” have led to this. Skiers have a new identity. The AR6 is here for them; the park skiers who ride the entire mountain. We addressed park features first with weight, durability and flex. The AR6 starts with our lightweight, all-wood AR Core 1 and heat-treated 2.5 Impact Edge. We incorporated a variable flex profile to enhance the performance of its solid overall flex, while the Carbon Fiber Stringers in the tail of the ski create pop and torsional stiffness. As one of the firmest park skis out there, you’ll be able to hold an edge carving off the lip or in variable snow on the steeps. Renowned artist Mad Steez put his finishing touch on this ultimate all-mountain ski for the park rider.
Pipe Cleaner
The Pipe Cleaner placed as well with the public as it did with judges under the feet of most major competition winners last season. The Pipe Cleaner resembles the AR6 by sharing many construction characteristics - Sandwich Fiberglass Laminates, ABS Sidewall Construction and Carbon Fiber Stringer. In addition, we’ve added the 2.5 impact edge for those wishing to take it out of the pipe. It differs from other skis and achieves its functional purpose in the pipe with speed from a World Cup-inspired die-cut race base and stiffer Flex Profiling on a lightweight AR Core 2. Those fortunate enough to grab a pair of the limited-production skis last season found its speed and obedient control made it an all-mountain high-performance ski as well. Limited quantities available.
ARG: La Gorda
A very limited number of ARGs hit stores last year and within weeks they were gone. On the mountain, they forever changed how their lucky owners skied deep snow. The ARG remains a limited-production model for the 2007-08 ski season. Its patent-pending design stands alone among a plethora of reverse-camber, reverse-sidecut skis hitting the market. A surfboard-inspired rocker and slight sidecut under foot allow this ski to cruise over powder, while allowing you to make it back to the lift on the groomers. We developed several improvements for this year. The ARG boasts our new sidewall/cap combination construction, the AR Fifty Sidewall. We also made it faster with our 50/50 base. The ARG also remains super light weight with an improved all-wood Ultra Light Core and 1.7 Edge.
El Rey
El Rey is the ultimate go-anywhere, do-anything, and still have money in your pocket, ski. These boards consistently perform in varying conditions thanks to extra waist width, torsion sock and our deepest sidecut. The El Rey is deliberately light from the full-wood Fleet Core 3 to the nylon cap allowing it to turn resiliently, but take the beating of a good day in the park. As with all our skis, design doesn’t stop at construction. Cost, performance and appearance make this the most versatile ski we offer.
Cantika
Cantika is the Fleet Series ski for women. This woman-specific model is engineered for the all mountain skier. Cantika is a turnier, fatter alternative to the ARW, thanks to a deep sidecut, lightweight solid-wood Fleet Core 3 and Torsion Sock. The Torsion Sock and sidecut create a super-smooth and sharp turn radius. Staying true to its all-mountain concept, the Cantika comes ready for the park with a true twin-tip design and tough base. Take this ski anywhere, she can handle it.
Coda
It all starts here. Mom and Dad aren’t willing to shell out on an expensive ski for you to grow out of. We don’t blame them. We’re on your team though. Coda is your common ground. We put the same engineering and materials into this ski as the adult Fleet Series skis. Coda is made up of the same full-wood Fleet Core 3 wrapped by our Torsion Sock under a tough nylon cap. Don’t spend all day in the park with this ski though. Start slaying the entire mountain early. This is your vehicle.
