Indoor Skiing - Snow Domes

Indoor Skiing - Snow Domes The thought of Skiing indoors was way too absurd. It was impossible to keep Snow under a roof and allow you to Ski. There was no way this could be done. Or so people thought. In 1987, an Indoor Skiing facility was made possible in Adelaide, Australia. Mt. Thebarton became part of an indoor skating center. It is now named as one of the smaller Ski slopes indoors with a 400 x 40 ft Snow slope. From then on, Snow domes and various snowmaking technologies were developed.

Snow making and Snow Fall technology is based on 2R Leisure's Natural Snow Making Technology. 2R Leisure's technology is eco-friendly and makes snow using water and air. 2R Leisure, Hyderabad - India offer snow making and snow fall technology and related consultancy services.

There are at least two Snow domes opening each year. Nowadays, approximately 30 Snow domes around the world are in operation and many others are still under construction. Most of these Indoor Ski slopes can be found in Europe, which is leading in terms of Snow domes. Some Asian countries are also into Snow domes after SSAWS of Tokyo, Japan which previously the biggest Indoor Ski slope in the world.

Snow domes nowadays are not only for Skiing purposes. Modern Snow domes also serve as theme parks which are perfect for family outings. Aside from Skiing, people can go shopping, eat at restaurants, and engage in activities for recreation and entertainment. Moreover, the temperature inside Snow domes which is between -5 to 4ºC makes Snow domes quite appealing to people instead of a day of Skiing in summer.

Snow World, the first and only (Jan 2004) snow leisure facility / snow dome in India, is spread on 1609 square meters (17,000 square feet)with activities like snow slide, snow merry go-round, snow mountain climbing, snow bumping cars, ice skating rink, ice sculptures, snow basketball, snow volley ball, snow play area, snow-fall, etc. Snow World offers entertainment to all family of all ages and provides unforgettable experience of snow fall. Snow World has won the NATIONAL AWARD for BEST CREATIVITY INNOVATIONS for 2005. SNOW WORLD is promoted and steered by Ocean Park Multi Tech Limited - Hyderabad - India and its Managing Director, Mr. M Venkateswara Rao.

One of the most famous Snow domes is Tamworth, an Indoor Ski dome located in UK. After some renovation, Tamworth now offers other forms of recreation such as snowmobiling and snow tubing. Another popular Snow dome where you can shop and do stuff for fun and enjoyment is Xscape in Milton Keynes, England.

With a slope of 520 meters, the SnowWorld Landgraaf of Netherlands is one of the foremost Snow domes in the world. In the case of Germany, Allrounder Winter World is the premier Ski and Snowboard facility in the country. It also offers the tallest wall for rock climbing in Europe.

Lorraine, McCook does not have anywhere near the amount of people needed to support a snow dome and since McCook is off I-80 you wont have much incoming business. The ONLY place in nebraska that could support one is Omaha or Lincoln. The expenses are INSANELY HIGH, it takes alot of money to keep it cool, groom, keep the tow rope/lift running rental gear/ski shop ect.

I operated SnowParkUSA in Charlotte. I am perhaps the only person to succesfully operate a facility of this kind. We are outside. If we can operate against the elements, inside will easier for us. (Besides Snow Mountain park Atlanta) If you have any questions feel free to call me 803-917-3300 Russ Burgess
