Freestyle Skiing is generally a fairly new concept in the world of Skiing. Though it originated in Scandinavia, Freestyle Skiing was developed in North America. At first, it was just a form of training for skiers, but it was later recognized as a competitive sport.
Freestyle Skiing can be compared to Freestyle Snowboarding although it is certainly not the same. It is about developing tricks, jumps, and other specific skills in Skiing that have little to do with actually descending from groomed or ungroomed slopes.
