What some people my not realize is that theres not that big of a difference between regular skies and freestyle skies. Just the extra tip, and alittle added pop. You can even, kinda, jump backwards. It just doesnt work out perfect everytime.

there quite a few differences actually in sidecut, materials used in it (for pop thats true), lightness, mounting points, and so on...
but a person starting wouldnt notice much of a difference and you could do anything on normal skis you can do on twins if you had the will i guess haha

well you can choose where you mount
some people mount center and stuff for more tail for switch riding and easier to grab
some pros are actually starting to mount forward of center for pipe

twins are normally lighter

i bet it helps somewhat

yeah you get more edge control and stuff if you dont mount center
plus some companys are making is so the ski has a equal balance when you mount at the right place now
so the swing isnt as much or something
hope that made sense

not really its not such a big deal for people cause most people mount center just to have more tail to grab
thats just what this guy at our shop told me last year
and yes hes knoledgble
he phoned up t hall to ask where to mount my bindings on his pro model haha
he has connections

Well, what alot of people forget is that even if you buy a new pair of twins and have your shop guy mount them in the ""center"" it not the true center of the ski. They mount them at core center and you are still about 3-5CM back of the true center of the ski. Not saying alot of people dont mount core where you are at for more tail to grab, but being from the east coast where we dont have alot of hugh jumps, its all about the rails and most people mount center here because then when you mount a rail or box under your foot is close to the center of the ski and it make for eaiser balance and its more forgiving.

when you start with freestyle skiing you wont notice a major difference between regular skis and twin tips. Just skiing backward is more difficult i belief. Also spins are a bit more difficult becaus you are not mounted center.
I think the difference between death center mount an 3 to 5 cm back is that the mass distribution of you ski isn't 100% symetric.. it is in the center of mass that you should be mounted for easiest spins. In that point the force you have to apply is minimal in order to create a momentum.
