Hello!

I've planned to build my own rail because there are no rails in my nearby skiing center.

Which materials shall I us? How long do you recommend it to be? What type of rail do you recommend? I’ve never railed before btw..!

Thanks for all answers!

There was a bit of a discussion in this post http://www.abc-of-skiing.com/forum/techniques-styles/rail1.asp a while back about rails, and building them.

pvc pipe is a good way to go. just drill the bottom into a plank of wood and build off that. and you can get three small pipes and put them side by side and make boxes and such

Okay!
Do you know how much a pvc-pipe costs?

What kind of wax? oil?

there surprisingly expensive actually. well i was looking for a decent sized one and it was about 150 for 6 feet. but smaller ones ive heard go ALOT cheaper. but i think your best bet would be too go to some constuction site near you and ask the workers if they have some scrap stuff you can take and normally you can find some there. thats what i did so

We made one last night with an old hot water heater cylinder. It was about 18 inches diameter by 4 foot or so long - bit on the short side but worked ok. Painted metal slid alright. No video or photos since it was too dark and the snow was too trashed by this afternoon when I finished work.

Let us know how you get on.
