The Ackers
At The Ackers we provide the facilities to bring adventurous sports to Birmingham. We have a team of dedicated and fully qualified instructors who take groups of all ages and abilities through our wide spectrum of activities in a safe and fun environment. Ski and snowboard lessons on our 100m dry ski slope can take you from complete beginner to expert skier, with sessions for instructors and racers also available. We also offer a Tiny Tots sessions for children aged 3 - 7 to learn the basics.
Our two climbing walls provide challenges for beginners and experienced climbers alike with overhangs, traverses and straightforward scrambles. Our After School Climbing Club for 8 - 16 year olds run every Tuesday night, allows children to pick up the sport in a fun and relaxed environment.
We also have the Grand Union Canal flowing through us which is a great place for a gentle paddle in a canoe, a faster more exhilarating journey in a kayak or with friends in our 12 seater bell boats. As well as this our archery course gives you the opportunity to try out one of the country's oldest past times.
Our group booking rates are subsidised for schools and youth groups, thus allowing you to expand your schools curriculum and introduce children to activities they would not normally have the opportunity to partake in.
For the more advanced adventurous activity lover we run Instructor training for skiers and snowboarders, SPA climbing courses for budding mountaineers and a vast array of canoeing and kayaking courses ranging from BCU 1* right up to a Level 3 Coaching course. If you wish to instruct in archery we also run a GNAS course.
