Many people say that Jämtland Härjedalen is one large playground. They may well be right. There are many small and large adventures here for all ages to enjoy.
Jämtland and Härjedalen invite you to wonderful days of skiing in the mountains and fishing on the ice in lakes teaming with char. Dog teams racing past spruce trees laden with snow, a toboggan race on the slope round the corner of the cabin, a long-distance ski trip on well-prepared cross-country tracks, after ski and party, or a cup of hot chocolate in front of the open fire. Something for everyone, it seems!
Jämtland Härjedalen – the downhill paradise
One of the most famous skiing places in Scandinavia is Åre. Many slopes, large drops and a cosy village feeling make Swedes and foreigners alike choose Åre for their winter holidays. But there are plenty of other ski havens in Jämtland Härjedalen.
Funäsdalsfjällen is a region with only natural snow. Ramundberget and Tänndalen have slopes for children and adults. The season is long and the lift cards are unlimited.
For a smaller area with equally great skiing, try Lofsdalsfjällen or Bydalsfjällen. These are popular haunts for families with children, and also for locals.
The winter is the high season of the year, and there is a lot going on. There are major events to enjoy, as well as smaller ones, targeted at more specific audiences, waiting to welcome you.

A winter holiday in Jämtland Härjedalen is usually full of all kinds of activities. However, there are also many sites to see in the winter, such as Åreskutan mountain in the west, Härjedalen Mountain Museum in the South and Korallgrottan cave in the north.
How to Get There
Jämtland Härjedalen is situated right in the centre of Sweden. Many people feel they have travelled as long way north when they arrive here, but they are in fact some 1,000 km from the northern border of Sweden!
Jämtland Härjedalen enjoys good connection with other parts of Sweden, be it by coach, by air or by rail. There are also good local connections to areas of great natural beauty.
