Lillehammer Ski Area
The Lillehammer region is famous for the spectacular local ski terrain and the many local winter sports activities. Close proximity to Northern Europe's best cross-country montains at Nordseter and Sjusjoen, with 350 km of ski trails and the short distance to the Hafjell Alpine Centre, makes the region an exciting and all-round travel destination.
Hafjell Alpin Centre The wide variety of Alpine slopes at Hafjell provide a diverse range of skiing challenges. The Alpine facility is not about crisscrossing slopes, but about long and fast continuous runs. And due to the advanced and comprehensive on-site snow-making facilities, Hafjell is a resort with reliable snow and skiing conditions throughout the entire winter ski season.
All the slopes at the resort lead to the same final destination at the bottom of the hill - simple and easy. Black, green, red and blue-marked trails all cenverge and one and the same endpoint, making it easy to stay together and keep in touch throughout the day. If you prefer skiing fast and fancy, then Hafjell is the ideal destination, and after the sun sets, you can continue skiing into the night at Hafjell to the light of Norway's most extensive floodlighting system. The winter bus has several departures daily between Lillehammer and Hafjell.
Gondola in Hafjell next winter 2006/2007
The construction work will start this summer, and according to the plans the 8 person gondola will be ready to serve our ski guests from the opening of the winter season 06/07. The capacity will be of 2000 persons per hour.
With the bottom station located at Skitorget, 195 m.a.s.l, and the top station at Mosetertoppen (above the Kjus-run), 783 m.a.s.l, the vertical drop will be of 588 m.
Nordseter and Sjusjøen were originally mountain farm communities, which - with their easily accessible forest and mountain terrain - have developed into one of Northern Europe’s best skiing destinations. The mountains are 850 metres above sea level and only 15-20 km from the centre of Lillehammer.
The area offers a wide range of skiing alternatives, including approx. 350 km. of prepared cross-country trails. The tracks run all the way to Lillehammer and Øyer, and even connect up with the Olympic tracks at the Birkebeineren Ski Stadium. You can ski in both forested and mountain terrain, and all the trails are clearly sign posted.
At critical crossroads, directional signs have been set up indicating the distance in kilometres to various destinations. We recommend that you purchase a ski map, and examine the touring alternatives that are described in available brochure material. We also recommend taking a ski trip from the mountains and down to Lillehammer - about 15km on slightly downhill trails starting in high mountain scenery and ending up in the middle of town. You can take a bus from the city and up to the mountains either at the start of your trip or at the end.

Rondane - Lillehammer - 170 km (Troll trail) The Troll Trail is a continuous marked ski trail, which passes through miles of untouchted nature from Høvringen and the Rondane National Park in the north, via Ringebufjellet, to Lillehammer - the Olympic City - in the south. The trail is about 170 km long.
The Troll Trail offers excellent skiing terrain in magnificent surroundings. The Troll Trail is a tour trail with a large degree of variation, ideally suited for those wanting either long or short trips.
The Troll Trail is normally marked from 1 February until after Easter. On certain parts the trail is prepared daily, on others only when necessary (after heavy snowfall/heavy winds). Since the trail goes partly in high mountain areas, proper equipment and clothing is a necessity. We recommend skis with steel edges.
