Each participant is supplied with the following equipment: 1 ARB (avalanche rescue beacon, essential for locating victims under the snow) 1 SHOVEL (essential for digging the victim out when totally or partially covered) 1 PROBE (essential for probing, so as not to dig just anywhere) 1 ABS airbag, (the ABS airbag offers you 150 litres additional volume for greater safety in case of avalanche; it offsets the victim’s specific weight in relation to the snow surrounding him, and prevents him being buried in the snow. As with a life jacket, the victim swims on the surface. The extra 150 l volume is adapted to light, cold snow. The denser and heavier the snow, the less the extra volume needed.
