Here at TFR we decided after ten years of running chalets and ski holidays for other people that there was really was no hope left for us in terms of getting 'a real job ' back in the old Angleterre rat race . After ten years of working in the Alps we possess a wealth of industry experience.
Run by aging snowboarders the ethos and mission of TFR is very simple. We will provide you with a comfortable homely chalet environment in where you can enjoy a wintersports holiday in a world class ski resort at a value for money price. It is our belief though that value for money doesn't have to represent average service and a lack of attention to detail. We work to the maxim that happy guests means happy days!
Our chalets are based in the 3 Valleys ski area France. We have one chalet in La Tania and one in Courchevel 1550.

Equipment Hire
The decision to hire or buy is purely a personal one that is down to you. Obviously its great to have the latest bling skis or boards when heading out on the hill but if you are just starting out it can be a false economy to spend big on kit for your first trip to the Alps. However the flip side of this argument is that if you do invest in equipment it will last for a couple of seasons. In most cases you will get your moneys worth out of it especially if you are going to more than one holiday. Check out the links lower down the page if your looking to buying new equipment
If you are a beginner and on a shorter stay with us we recommend you hire for your first week to ensure you get the right ski / board for your level. If you catch the ski / boarding bug you can always buy for next years trip. TFRs associated ski shop in La Tania Ski Higher provides high quality rental equipment at a good price and will resolve any problems that occur during the week. The shop is British owned which alleviates any language problems that may occur when explaining things about your skis or board. You can rent your equipment through TFR at a discounted rate upon arrival in resort.
Lift Passes
Lift pass options can seem confusing - upgrades, full area, local area, extra days, family options .What does all this mean?. Le Praz is part of the Courchevel Valley ski area which subsequently links into the 3 Valleys ski area so on paper this makes things a bit more complicated . |

The Resort
The central area of La Tania is self contained and is also traffic free The village has all the usual resort facilities which include the following : 4 ski hire shops, a tourist office, a gym with a small swimming pool, post office, bakery, tabac, newsagent, supermarket, a pizza takeaway and a cashpoint, There are two ski schools and a crèche which are situated in the central section of the resort.
The La Tania / Courchevel ski area links in to the massive 3 Valleys ski area. From the foot of the Gondola lift you are 2 lifts away from either Méribel or Courchevel 1850. The resort stats are impressive ( See in full below ) 200 lifts with a capacity to carry 260,000 skiers per hour, 2500 hectares of groomed pistes some 600km in length with 293 marked runs and 130km of cross country tracks.
There are 3 runs down into the resort, a wide blue through the forest and a challenging wide red run which runs directly under the gondola . For beginners there is a 'cat track' through the forest which is ideal for steady progression. La Folyeres This blue run into La Tania is now aided by 38 new snow cannons. This keeps the pistes into La Tania open right up until the end of the season. In the centre of the village there is a is a free drag lift and a short but wide nursery slopes for absolute beginners. For intermediate skiers and boarders , a day out to Val Thorens is a must and is only 4 - 6 lifts away.
