British Alpine Ski School
The British Alpine Ski School in Courchevel is one of several small exclusive ski schools operating in the French Alps. Every one of our instructors are British and hold full BASI British qualifications as well as meeting with the very high demands of the French DDJS.
We take a maximum of 6 clients in each class which ensures rapid and safe progress for all levels of skiers. We also try to be as flexible as possible offering alternate day courses leaving availability mid week for late comers or customers wishing to have the occasional private lesson. We pride ourselves on our experience enabling us to diagnose why bad habits have developped and quickly prescribe corrective remedies. Our instructors have enormous empathy for the apprehensive skier, guiding them gently through the progressions at their own pace in either private sessions or with other like minded pupils. Most importantly, each booking enquiry is handled carefully by instructors to ensure the standards within each group are similar. This way, it is as much in our interest as the clients that the classes are compatible. Classes of different durations are offered as are private lessons, all day excursions or family packages for the day or entire week.

Private lessons can be from half an hour to a full week. Classes usually run two hours a day, the minimum class length being four hours taken either on consecutive or alternate days. Each client booking ski lessons will be given the option of the duration of his or her course. Beginners are strongly adviced to book two hours a day for the full week with the option of having a day off half way through. Each day, every group, is carefully structured to provide enough technique to ensure progress without becoming too tired. Pupils will be advised what area's to concentrate on and the whole class encouraged to practice before each session. Should an individual find themselves not progressing at the same rate, they will be moved into a more appropriate group or be advised to have a private lesson. The quality of our lessons are high and so we therefore usually only recommend two hours a day especially for novices. For childrens classes however, providing they are all intermediate, three or more hours a day works well and for guiding and family packages we tailor make the courses to correspond to the clients needs.

Courchevel is situated in the heart of Europe's most spectacular ski area surrounded by the well known resorts of Val D'Isere, Tignes, Les Arcs, La Rosiere and La Plagne to name just a few. The lift pass in Courchevel covers the three valleys of Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thorens as well as a day in each of the neighbouring aformentioned resorts. Our beginner runs are next to the Courchevel altiport that provided the opening scene to James Bond's "The World is not Enough". This small airstrip brings in the rich and famous, provides small air tours and offers tandem sky diving experience for the more adventurous. Hot air balloons hover over the pistes for the slightly less daring and in the centre of Courchevel 1850, the Forum, houses an olympic ice hockey rink, a bowling alley and climbing wall.
Other activities available include snow mobiles, go carting on ice, ice skating, paragliding and hang-gliding. The carefully graded runs are served by snow canons providing good snow cover despite the conditions and woven in between these immaculatly groomed pistes are trails for cross country skiing and walking with snow shoes. |
