Meribel and Val d'Isere
Base Camp Group run ski & snowboard instructor training courses in Europe and North America. Each ski & snowboard instructor course is carefully designed to blend adventure with training to compliment the surrounding environment. Our ski & snowboard instructor courses offer you the chance to develop your all-round skiing and snowboarding while learning to become a ski or snowboard instructor in the world's best condtions.
Base Camp's Meribel Ski & Snowboard Instructor is ideally located in the middle of Les Trois Vallees, the largest ski area in the world with over 200 lifts, 600 km of groomed runs and 35,000 acres of off-piste. The course is taught by leading British and French instructors giving you a truly European approach to skiing and snowboarding. With BASI qualifications now being the most widely accepted in Europe our Meribel instructor course is the ideal way to spend a gap year or to start a new career.
Les Trois Vallees encompasses more than 11 ski resorts and has over 2000 metres of vertical. It played a central part in the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics hosting the ladies downhill, super-G, giant slalom and slalom as well as the ice hockey and ski jumping.
Whether it is the couloirs and bowls of Courchevel, the glaciers in Val Thorens, the fierce moguls of the Roc De Tougne or the off-piste of Mont Vallon and Cote Brune, the variety and diversity of slopes Les Trois Vallees has to offer is unrivalled.
Our Val D’Isere Ski & Snowboard Instructor Course is taught by both British and French instructors and is designed to develop your skiing and snowboarding on-piste as well as off-piste while training you to become an instructor. The resorts of Val D’Isere and Tignes create Espace Killy, France’s premier ski area and host of the 1992 Albertville Olympic’s flagship event, the Men’s Downhill. In addition to its superb on-piste skiing Val D’Isere has made a name for its fabulous off-piste and is regarded as amongst the top 10 resorts in the world for expert skiers and snowboarders.
Named after Jean Claude Killy, local hero and winner of 3 Olympic Golds in the 1968 Olympics, Espace Killy covers over 11 000 hectares of snow fields and 300km of groomed runs. It also has two parks equipped with half pipe, the only double bowl in France, big air, hips, hand rails, boarder cross, and a multitude of small and medium tables. Val D’Isere hosts the first FIS European Downhill of each season and regularly receives between 6 and 10 meters of snow each winter.

SKI & SNOWBOARD PROGRAMME Our ski and snowboard courses are unique. We are the only company to offer courses in both European and Canadian qualifications and we operate in only the very best winter resorts in the world.
We provide the highest quality coaching available in world-renowned top-class locations, combining our passion for snowsports with a personal, efficient and friendly service so that you are able to gain internationally recognised qualifications.
While each of our ski & snowboard programmes are individual, all of our programmes share a similar structure to provide you with an instructor course that is demanding and fulfilling.
Small classes with superb coaches
During each programme we initially focus on improving your technique while developing the teaching skills you will need to become a ski & snowboard instructor.
Ski & snowboard classes are small and personal and decided on experience and ability. Throughout the instructor course coaches rotate between classes so that you can benefit from their collective knowledge and expertise and experience a variety of different teaching styles and techniques.
Once you have acquired the required skills and knowledge to become a ski or snowboard instructor, we go on to explore more high performance disciplines such as freestyle or off-piste. Every ski & snowboard programme is designed to be flexible so you can tailor it to suit your needs and develop the disciplines that interest you.
All-round approach to skiing and snowboarding
We believe that becoming a ski or snowboard instructor is about more than being able to ski or snowboard. As well as on-snow coaching, each ski and snowboard instructor course also includes the following elements, designed to give you an all-round approach to skiing and snowboarding whilst developing your on-hill progression:
evening workshops, video analysis and weekly feedback sessions to compliment your on-snow work
ski and snowboard Tuning Clinics, teaching you how to look after and maintain your kit
avalanche training, working towards the CAA or AIARE certificates
First Aid Course, focusing on safety and rescue on the mountain
French language training (France only) to help develp your knowledge of the industry and the area
We're also pleased to announce our Speciality Days feature - new to Whistler for 2005/06!!!! In partnership with Whistler-Blackcomb ski and snowboard school, we have added a speciality day to our Whistler programmes with one day each week focusing on freestyle, racing or off-piste. Each week you will have an option of riding with a sponsored freestyle ski or snowboard competitor, have intensive race training from our professional coaches with the use of the Olympic slalom course or a day in the powder working on steeps, chutes and cliff drops.
The standard model for our instructor courses does already include these disciplines but we have adjusted our programme to give you more flexibility and to ensure you achieve your goals.
SUPPORT TEAM Our Ski and Snowboard Instructor courses are designed with the individual’s needs in mind. We want to make your Base Camp experience as smooth as possible, whilst being challenging and enjoyable. All of our coaches and staff are hand-picked for their professionalism and experience.
