Ylläs

Welcome to Ylläs!

Winter has arrived in Ylläs. In the beginning of December, we have already 20cm of snow and beautiful weather for outdoor activities.

SKIING
Ylläs is the home to the longest downhill runs in Finland. With 43 slalom slopes and 21 lifts, Ylläs is one of the largest resorts in Lapland. Ylläs also has International requirements filling half pipe on both sides of the fell. Super-G slope, Off-point slopes and a rare boarder cross - track. For snowboarders, Ylläs is a dream come true with many possibilities. It is also one of the most popular places among telemark skiers and off track skiers with several fells of untouched snow.

Ylläs also has two ski schools, one in both villages. The skiing schools provide slalom, cross country skiing, telemark skiing, off track skiing, and snowboarding lessons. Equipment can be rented either from ski centres or some local shops.

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING
Ylläs is a skier’s oasis. A total of 320 km of mechanically prepared trails are available and 43 km of these are illuminated. The great fells are easy to reach also for beginners. The trails are so arranged that the route can be changed as desired half-way through, therefore giving countless alternatives in the beautiful nature. There are so-called warm tracks where it might be as much as 15 degrees warmer than down in the village.

The skiing season begins in October and lasts until May - the long season offers athletes many good opportunities to practice. Exellent and warm ski tracks, proper illumination, versatile routes and variable terrain meet the needs of all skiers.

SNOWMOBILING
In Ylläs, snowmobilers feel like home, both men and women. Here many people have fallen in love with snowmobiling. Thera are many kinds of safaries, something for everyone.

You can choose from many routes: short, long and high - all the way from the top of Yllästunturi Fell to the Arctic Ocean.
