In Salla, you won’t be spending hours queuing for the ski lift or the restaurant. All our facilities, from ski equipment rental to your hotel or cabin, are easily accessible – on foot. Salla signifies rest for the soul and sights for sore eyes, both summer and winter. The local inhabitants have put in time and effort to make the village as attractive as possible. In the summertime, you’ll enjoy the verdant and well-groomed town centre and surrounding areas.
Winter scenes in Salla are something so unique that the efforts of the best photographs or the greatest of storytellers are doomed to failure. You have to see Salla in all its glory with your own two eyes. Come and experience nature at its purest, the grandeur of our scenery, and the warmth of our people.
The fells are calling...
Once you’ve reached the top of the fell, stop for a bit and take in the breathtaking beauty of Lapland. Beginners and proficient skiers alike will find challenges galore on Sallatunturi’s ten slopes with their excellent profiles and varying grades of difficulty. The four blue slopes are meant for enjoyment pure and simple, but the two red slopes are quite a bit more demanding. The two black slopes provide enough speed and torsion to satisfy the most daring of downhill skiers.
Skiing down the slope or on the track around the fell, you’ll find the cosy Kotapubi (Hut Pub) on the eastern side of the fell where you can enjoy the openfire or the allday sunshine terrace. The smoothly functioning SkiData lift access system guarantees that queuing up for the slopes is a thing of the past. Recodable KeyCards, Swatch Access watches, and Hestra gloves are available at Ski-Shop Karhumaja.
NO SKIS? NO PROBLEM!
At the ski rental store, you’ll find snowboards downhill equipment, telemark or cross-country skis, and snowshoes. Snowmobiles are available as well. Elan Test Centre welcomes you try out the latest ski models. Salla Ski School offers courses for beginners and seasoned skiers alike.
THE END OF A PERFECT DAY
On a successful holiday, at the end of each day you feel pleased and content with the memories you’ve made. Part of the enjoyment is to recount your neatest turns and fanciest falls in good company - at the ski restaurant. Later on, it’s only a hop and a step to the a la carte restaurant for a gourmet Lapp dinner. A memorable evening in Salla is rounded off by dancing into the wee small hours of the morning.
