In 1958, the sport of skiing was revolutionized with a technical innovation from Ed Scott, a talented engineer and ski racer living in Sun Valley, Idaho. Ed Scott's invention of the first tapered aluminum ski pole immediately replaced the spor's existing use of bamboo and steel.

That revolutionary invention launched a new brand, SCOTT USA, and fundamentally positioned the brand as a technical product leader in the skiing market. Additional ski pole innovations soon followed and included the first ";notch grip"; as well as the eventual invention of most of the other standard ski grips that are in production today. Ed Scott's initial vision of technical innovation would serve as the cornerstone company philosophy as the brand matured, expanded product lines, and entered new markets.

Today, SCOTT USA's commitment to the bicycle, wintersport, motorsport, and outdoor markets is unparalleled. Product lines have grown to include such new categories as sunglasses, bicycle apparel, and outdoor backpacks and travel bags. SCOTT USA devotes considerable resources to product research, development, and design, as well as grassroots marketing and event and athlete sponsorship.

SCOTT USA recently introduced the world's lightest, full-suspension, production mountain bike frame and rolled out a global launch of patented goggle innovations; the RAM Air ventilation system and the revolutionary Amplifier Lens. Forty years after founding the brand with a new revolutionary ski pole, SCOTT USA recently released yet another ski pole innovation; the patent-pending, adjustable LeverLock ski pole strap system.
