What we do

Meathead Films is dedicated to skiing on the East Coast. We are the only ski movie production company that showcases all types of riding (backcountry and jibbing on both telemark and alpine equipment). Each fall we release original movies that are entertaining, meaningful and marketable. Our films are enjoyed by all age groups. Everyone from the terrain park grom to the hardcore backcountry telemarker to the once-a-year vacation skier can enjoy and relate to the Eastern skiing in our movies.

Who we are

Meathead Films is based out of Burlington,VT and is led by Geoff McDonald and Christopher James. Geoff founded the company in 2001 and it has grown exponentially every year since. Geoff is in charge of filming, editing, and design work. Christopher handles the still photography and marketing.

Why the East?

The Eastern United States and Canada represent one of the largest ski markets in the world. Despite the humble altitudes of our mountains, the region offers spectacular terrain that, before us, had gone largely undocumented. Meathead Films fills the East Coast gap in the ski movie industry.

How we do it

Hard work. We work tirelessly with our athletes to bring the audience the best skiing in the most remote and spectacular locations on the East Coast. We shoot in both digital and film formats. Our films are distributed by companies like Skiershop.com, Eastern Mountain Sports and Platinum Distribution. In autumn, Meathead Films organizes extensive tours to cities, colleges, and ski towns in order to premiere our latest movies and promote our sponsors.

Where we ski

Our home resort is Stowe,VT but we film everywhere. Other resorts we have visited include: Sugarbush, Jay Peak, Mad River Glen, Stratton, Mt. Snow, Killington, Loon, Sunday River, Sugarloaf, Cannon, Bromont, Saint Sauveur, and Val St. Come. Backcountry locations include areas in the Chic Chocs of Quebec, Newfoundland, the Green Mountains, White Mountains, Berkshires, Adirondacks, and areas in Maine.

Why Meathead?

Meathead Films is a name Geoff came up with in 2001 while filming a comedy sketch series that aired on the University of Vermont TV station. The name was perfectly appropriate to the antics and general stupidity exhibited on the show. Having moved beyond such pursuits, "Meathead Films" nevertheless, carried over to Geoff's skiing projects and everyone involved became known as the Meatheads. Voila!
